The UMass women’s basketball team overwhelmed Richmond in the second half en route to a 64-38 victory in its regular-season home finale, Wednesday at the Mullins Center.

The Minutewomen (14-15, 6-9 Atlantic 10) outscored the Spiders (8-20, 5-10) after halftime, 37-15.

Jessica George had 15 points, while Destiney Philoxy added 11 points, six rebounds and six assists. Jessica Nelson added 10 points and seven rebounds.

Hailey Leidel finished with seven points and 10 rebounds, and Bre Hampton-Bey had nine points, three rebounds and three assists.

Mackenzie Sullivan (South Hadley) played two minutes and made two free throws. Lauraine Joensen (Northampton) also played two minutes and finished with two points. They were the first collegiate points for both players.

Women’s lacrosse

Harvard 18, UMass 12 — Stephanie Croke and Kaitlyn Cerasi each scored three goals but the Minutewomen (1-2) fell on the road.

Emma Dotsikas and Kiley Anderson scored two goals apiece for UMass.

Springfield 15, Framingham State 10 — Kate Sarnacki (Granby) had four goals and one assist as the Pride (2-0) won on the road.

Women’s swimming

Simmons senior Kerry Fleming (Northampton) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week in her sport.

Fleming helped Simmons win its second straight New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association Championship last weekend after winning seven medals at the four-day meet. Fleming medalled in all seven of her events, including five golds.

The four-year standout won the 200-yard backstroke and placed first in the 200 freestyle with a personal-record time of 1:55.79. She finished second in the 100 freestyle. Fleming helped the Sharks shatter the NEISDA Championship and Open record as well as the school standard in the 800 freestyle relay by more than five seconds. The relay win was the first of three freestyle relay victories that Fleming was a part of. She also helped Simmons win the 200 freestyle relay and the 400 freestyle relay. In addition, Fleming earned a bronze medal, helping the Sharks place third in the 400 medley relay.
