Téa LaRaja scored five goals and scooped eight ground balls, as the Amherst Regional girls lacrosse team won its season opener 8-5 against Northampton at Ray Ellerbrook Field on Monday.
Rachel Kawall found the net twice, while Zora Dallman (nine ground balls) added a goal. Taiya Anay had an assist and Cleo Hein stopped eight shots for Amherst (1-0).
Elly MacDonald tallied two goals and two assists for Northampton (0-1).
Shea Crowther (assist), Emma Kellogg and Jett DuVal found the net. Ellie Mahoney added an assist. Gabby Adorno made 11 saves.
Monson 16, St. Mary 9 — Hampshire Regional’s Katerzyna Wisnauckas (assist), Natalie Lussier and Samantha Moran each scored two goals in the Saints’ season opener. April Warner made 10 saves for St. Mary (0-1, 0-1 Pioneer).
Northampton 14, Longmeadow 7 — Clem Fisher scored twice and assisted on four goals for the Blue Devils. Asa Thompson made five defensive stops. Jason Cooper added four assists. Riley Cirincione-Lynch defended three passes.
Zack Frenier (two defenses) scored four times, while Sam Buhl, Jordy Perry-Greene and Leon Grossman had two goals each. Hayden Feldscher threw two assists.
