As a board member of Help Our Kids Inc., I thank you for a recent Hampshire Life cover story “The Cinderella Treatment for Teens in Foster Care.”
It is hard to do fitting for the future justice. I believe your feature article did just that. I have had the privilege of volunteering for this daylong event since its inception five years ago and witnessed firsthand the emotional and inspirational moments to which reporter Luis Fieldman refers, and the event’s exponential growth.
One of the challenges of serving this population is the shroud of secrecy surrounding it. Putting the spotlight, literally and figuratively, on kids in care can remind the greater community of the need to support them throughout the year so they can fulfill their dreams and potential.
