Moodybridge Road, Hadley

I’ve learned that the railings of the boardwalk bridges on the Fort River Trail on Moodybridge Road in Hadley are a great place to find interesting creatures of the small variety: leafhoppers, inchworms, beetles, caterpillars and the like. I first saw only the head of this colorful caterpillar as it peeked up over the side of the railing. Looking like a miniature dragon, it is much more colorful than the White-Marked Tussock Moth it will become. Capturing quickly before it disappeared over the edge again, I created this image with my tripod-mounted DSLR camera and a medium telephoto lens.
