Hampshire Regional’s Edward Przybyla closed the PVIAC alpine skiing season with a boys giant slalom victory.
He won Thursday’s fifth race in 25.01 seconds at Berkshire East in Charlemont.
Northampton’s Nate Jones placed third (25.62). Amherst’s Beckett Baird took sixth (26.34). Dawson Kelly (26.81) and Evan Novak (26.85) also landed in the top 10 for the Raiders at eighth and ninth, respectively.
James Scott of the Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter School was 16th (28.13).
In the girls slalom, Northampton crowded the podium. Ellie Mahoney was second (35.26) and Chloe Denhart third (35.39).
PVCICS’ Juliett Scott finished sixth (39.71) followed by Amherst’s Sea Kay Lueng in seventh (39.77). Hampshire’s Summer Duda tied for eighth (39.82).
Frontier Regional 49,Turners Falls 44 – Kaitlyn Mackin scored 19 points, as the Red Hawks won at home. Charlotte Doulette added eight points, and Kylie Laford had nine points in the first quarter.
Mahar 53, Hopkins Academy 24 — Sara Beauchamp led the Golden Hawks with 10 points and grabbed six rebounds to go with two assists. Chloe Jekanowski added six points with 14 rebounds and five blocks.
Frontier Regional 60, Turners Falls 51 — Sean Richter led the Red Hawks with 21 points. DJ Dragicevich joined him in double figures with 11 points while Iain Spearance and Adan Hernandez each had eight points in the win.
Frontier led steadily throughout the game, getting out to a 32-21 lead at the half. It prevented Turners from getting into striking distance in the final half of action.
