I was dismayed to read that Tara Ganguly, an attorney newly appointed to the Northampton Human Rights Commission, used her personal Twitter page to “vent” her anger with the hateful tone and shaming language that has become so common in our country today. (Editor’s note: Ganguly later decided not to join the commission.)
She is entitled to her opinions but as a public servant would have needed to express these in a respectful manner. If not, she should not have served on an advisory board seeking to advocate for some of those very people she is slamming on her social media account.
The way we speak and the words we chose are more important today than ever.
