Five Amherst College men’s basketball players scored in double figures in Saturday’s 79-62 home win over Emerson.

Jayde Dawson led the way with 16 points off the bench, while Johnny Mccarthy had 15, Michael Riopel 12, Eric Conklin 12 and David George 11.

McCarthy notched a double-double with 10 rebounds, while Reid Berman had four assists.

Amherst (5-0) outscored Emerson 54-37 in the second half after the game was tied 25-25 at halftime.

Women’s basketball

MIT 65, Mount Holyoke 21 — Katlyn Grover scored seven points in a home loss Saturday for the Lyons (2-5, 0-2 NEWMAC).

Babson 74, Smith 65 — Erin Hanley scored 13 points, but the Pioneers (4-2, 1-1 NEWMAC) shot 33.9 percent in a home loss Saturday.

Amherst 83, Randolph-Mason 59 —Ali Doswell put up 18 points, eight rebounds and six assists in a road win Saturday.

George Mason 66, UMass 55 — Hailey Leidel scored 16 points, and all five Minutewomen starters reached double figures in a home loss Sunday.

Maggie Mulligan had a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Minutewomen (4-4, 0-1 Atlantic 10).

Ryan Holder had 14 points, while Leah McDerment also scored 11.

Men’s ice hockey

Trinity 4, Amherst 3 — Patrick Daly had a goal and an assist in a road loss Saturday.

Phil Johansson added two assists for Amherst (3-2-1).

Notre Dame 3, UMass 0 — Ryan Wischow stopped 33 shots, but the Fighting Irish scored in each period Saturday.

Austin Plevy led the Minutemen (4-8-2) with four shots.

Women’s ice hockey

Trinity 1, Amherst 1 — Sarah Culhane scored from Kristen Molina and Cailtyn Ryan in the second period Saturday to preserve a home draw.

Women’s indoor track

Elm City Challenge — Umass junior Julia Witt won the pentathlon Saturday with 3,130 points at Southern Connecticut.

She was second in the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 29.68 seconds and third in the high jump at 5 feet, 1.75 inches.

Charlotte Robinson was fourth in the pentathlon but won the long jump at 15-9.25.

Smith Invitational — Smith’s Zoe Rubinstein won the pole vault, jumping 3.55 meters Saturday. She also took eighth in the 200-meter dash.

Donari Yahzid of Mount Holyoke finished third in the long jump at 5.14 meters.

Men’s swimming & diving

Bucknell Diving Invitational — Trent Kindvall’s took second in the event, posting the highest preliminary score with 316.45 points and scoring 276.05 in the finals Saturday. His preliminary score is seventh all-time for the Minutemen. He qualified for the NCAA regional meet.

Amherst 179.5, Middlebury 113.5 — Craig Smith won the 100- and 200-yard backstroke races and contributed to a winning 200 medley relay Saturday.

Eric Wong won the 400 and 500 freestyle, while Jack Koravos won the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly.

Women’s swimming & diving

Hamilton Invitational — Smith finished fourth, while Mount Holyoke was seventh in the team standings Saturday.

Desi Stoyanova finished second in the 400 individual medley in 4:51.94.

Elly Stone won the 1-meter dive with a score of 256 and took second on the three-meter with a 267.

Her teammate Abigail Hanna won the 3-meter at 268.8.

Mount Holyoke’s 200 medley relay of Katie Tyler, Bri Groves, Annie Kuenning and Emily Craig took first in 1:43.27.

Amherst 179.5, Middlebury 118.5 — Bridgitte Kwong won the 100 and 200 backstroke in addition to the 200 IM on Saturday to lead Amhers to its third straight dual win.
