AMHERST — A virtual workshop to envision the future of downtown and update downtown design standards for streetscapes and private properties is being held Thursday, Oct. 3, at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom.

After hosting in-person public workshops in mid-September, the town’s design and planning consultant for the project, Dodson & Flinker Landscape Architecture & Planning, will lead the latest workshop, which will include break-out sessions to discuss design preferences and vision for downtown Amherst.

The town also has an online survey available to get information about people’s visual preferences. The survey shows examples of development projects from other communities and asks participants to rate whether they would be appropriate in downtown Amherst. That survey, available at surveymonkey.com/r/amherstdesign, runs through Oct. 27.

More information about downtown design standards is at amherstma.gov/downtowndesign and a link to the virtual meeting is at www.bit.ly/amherstdesign.
