Add another medal to the local list for the 2024 Bay State Games.

After an 0-2 start to the girls basketball tournament, Team West won their next two games to clinch a spot in the gold medal game at Babson College over the weekend.

In Sunday’s final, Team Metro capped an undefeated run with a 53-33 victory to secure gold. West settled for silver, finishing its weekend run with a 2-3 overall record.

West opened with Day 1 losses to Metro (54-28) and Coastal (48-43) on Friday, but got back into the medal round picture thanks to a strong performance on Saturday. West scored wins over Southeast (47-44) and Central/Northeast (44-41), moving to 2-2 overall entering Sunday’s medal rounds.

West and Southeast both finished 2-2, but the head-to-head victory from Team West gave them the tiebreaker and a spot against Metro (4-0).

The West roster included Hampshire County standouts Taylor Bullough (South Hadley) and Brenna Moreno (Granby).

The roster, coached by Steve Negron, also included Lacey Bermudez-Lizardi (Pope Francis), Avery Burkholder (Southwick), Lauren Cross (Chicopee), Ava DeBettencourt (Chicopee Comp), Aubrie Jodoin (Chicopee), Eden Kornacki (Pope Francis), Marlee Montagna (Agawam), Ella Negron (Pope Francis) and Noelani Santiago (SICS).
