Indoor track: South Hadley's Abigail Gelinas, Maggie Crawford, Kelcey Zraunig and Emma Levreault win 4x200 meter relay title at MIAA Div. 5 Championships

The MIAA Division 5 Indoor Track & Field Championships took place Monday afternoon at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, after inclement weather postponed the initial meet that was scheduled for Sunday.
South Hadley’s girls 4x200-meter relay team highlighted the performances from area schools as they won the event in 1 minute, 50.42 seconds.
Abigail Gelinas, Maggie Crawford, Kelcey Zraunig and Emma Levreault made up the victorious Tigers squad, which narrowly edged second-place Ayer-Shirley (1:50.97).
Crawford also earned fifth place in the girls 600-meter race with a time of 1:41.52, while Izzy Scott picked up fifth in the girls 1,000-meter race, finishing in 3:14.25.
Addison Hill, Scott, Quinlin Cook and Crawford made up South Hadley’s third-place finishing 4x800 relay team with a time of 10:50.65.
The Tigers totaled 24 points on the girls side, to earn a share of seventh place in the total team competition.
The South Hadley boys received good performances from Trevor Sullivan in the two mile (14th, 10:35.36) and Jameson Webber in the 55-meter hurdles (eighth, 8.50 seconds). In the 55m hurdle trials, Webber broke his own school record with an 8.22 – the third time he’s broken the record this season.
Ben Cachiguango took third in the 55 meter hurdles for Frontier, crossing the finish line in 8.04 seconds, to lead the Redhawks.

Lilly Novak grabbed 10th place in the girls shot put for Frontier with a distance of 29 feet, 9 inches. Josie Fosnot also raced well, grabbing 15th in the girls 300-meter race in 44.89.
The Redhawks’ girls 4x800 relay team of Sasha Malo, Perla Ordaz, Phoebe Radner and Claire McFarland finished with a time of 11:07.68, which was good for ninth overall.
Hampshire Regional had a strong day with multiple top-15 finishes across the boys and girls teams.
Kathleen Barry topped out for the Raiders on Monday, taking sixth place in the girls two-mile in 12:15.14. In the girls 600-meter race, Hampshire had three runners finish in a pack as Charlotte Letendre got 10th (1:48.02), Keegan Butler took 13th (1:49.28) and Gabriella Dybacki finished in 14th (1:49.95).
In the girls 4x800 relay, Natalie Dunlap, Letendre, Barry, and Butler placed seventh in 10:53.97.
For the boys, Oscar Schiff secured seventh in the boys two mile in 10:15.49 while Owen Cubi concluded the boys one mile in sixth in 4:41.14.
Competitors that advanced to th e MIAA Meet of Champions (top 24 in each event across all five divisions) will compete on Saturday back at the Reggie Lewis Center.
