Earlier in the week, Ella Laliberte knew she had a chance to score her 200th career goal in a lacrosse game against Monson. The Granby senior purposely held back in that contest, wanting to save the celebration for her home turf.

Laliberte got her wish on Wednesday afternoon, when the Rams played Monson again, this time in Granby. She scored six goals total, and her second tally of the night secured the 200 milestone in a 17-5 victory. Her coach called a short timeout to let her celebrate with her team and family, who came out onto the field to take a photo and commemorate the occasion.

“It’s just a feeling of relief, of accomplishment, because you go through every single game and usually the goals and the points don't matter, it's all about the game,” Laliberte said. “But then to actually see your hard work progress to a certain extent and to achieve that accomplishment, it’s just a fulfilling feeling.”

Laliberte wasn’t even sure if she’d score 100 goals, let alone 200 – her freshman season was canceled because of COVID-19, making her milestone all the more impressive.

“I never expected it. I never expected to even score 100 goals especially after not having my freshman season. It was never something that I was worried about, it kind of just happened,” Laliberte said. “It's just crazy to me, to be able to accomplish something like that.”
