HADLEY — A large number of unmarked law enforcement vehicles parked along Route 47 and near Mitch’s Marina throughout the day Tuesday were involved in court-authorized activity, according to the FBI’s Boston Division.

“The FBI’s Evidence Response Team is conducting court-authorized activity,” said FBI spokeswoman Kristen M. Setera.

Setera said the FBI wouldn’t be providing any additional comment.

Located in the town’s Hockanum section and near the base of Skinner State Park, the investigation, which included agents in hazardous materials suits, was taking place at the same 108 Hockanum Road home that in December 2002 was raided following a six-week postal investigation. At that time, bomb-making materials and explosive devices were discovered in the residence and criminal charges were brought against a resident.

Hadley Police Lt. Mitch Kuc said since Tuesday’s activity was an FBI-led investigation, little information could be shared about it. Kuc, though, confirmed that it was a court-authorized investigation, adding that the case does not involve immigration or deportation matters.
