The final round of the 2025 New England Women’s Amateur Championship took place on Thursday afternoon at Haverhill Country Club, and Ryley Regan and Julianna Megan – members of the Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley – both cracked the top 25 in a pair of strong showings throughout the week.
Coming into Thursday at 10-over par, Regan, of Granby, shot a 6-over round of 78 to put her at 16-over for the three-day tournament. She finished in a tie for 19th overall and in a tie for ninth place in the Junior Division with Tumer Highlands Country Club’s Jade Haylock and MIAA’s Mya Murphy.
Similar to her round on Wednesday (where she shot a 75), Regan got on a heater on the back nine. She played the last six holes bogey-free and added a birdie on the 17th to come in with a 38 on the back nine. On the front nine, Regan birdied the fourth hole and had five bogeys and three pars to shoot a 40. Her round of 78 on Thursday was tied for the eighth-best of the day.
Maddie Smith defeated Amelie Phung in a playoff to win the championship, while Lillian Guleserian, the leader through two rounds, shot a 76 to finish third. It was truly a three-horse race on Thursday, as Needham Golf Club’s Kaitlyn Doe (11-over) and Kirkbrae Country Club’s (Rhode Island) Adriana Eaton (11-over) tied for fourth place to round out the top five competitors this week.
Megan placed 24th overall with a three-round total of 18-over par. Although she recorded three birdies throughout the day (holes 3, 6 and 17), she double-bogeyed four holes and could never string a consistent stretch together as she shot a 41 on both the front and back nine for a round of 82 to wrap up her tournament.
Through the first two rounds of action, Megan didn’t record a single double bogey. Still, she put forth a valiant effort this week to crack the top 25.
