Hampshire’s Kathleen Barry set a new course record at the three-mile course at Nonotuck Park (20:06) and the Raiders girls cross country team knocked off Easthampton and Monson, but were edged by Frontier on Tuesday afternoon.

While Hampshire’s Ada Corner (third, 20:51) and Charlotte Niswonger (fourth, 21:14) weren’t far behind Barry to help the Raiders reach a score of 31, Frontier placed all five of its scoring runners in the top 10 to beat Hampshire 28-31. Frontier also beat Easthampton 21-40 and Monson 15-50. Hampshire beat Easthampton 19-41 and Monson 15-50. Easthampton beat Monson 18-40.

Sylvie DiBartolomeo (second, 20:16) led Frontier, followed by Liv Christensen (fifth, 21:24), Phoebe Radner (eighth, 22:06), Maia Christensen (ninth, 22:11) and Kali Beam (10th, 22:24).

Easthampton placed a pair of runners in the top 10 – Gwen Banz (sixth, 21:31) and Grace Pappadellis (seventh, 21:56).

PVCICS 15, Pioneer 50; PVCICS 15, Smith Voc 50 – PVCICS’ Sarah Fardal came just 16 seconds away from her own course record to grab another first-place finish at 17:25, followed by teammates Ellery Maier (second, 17:53), Eunice Lo (third, 18:04), Astrid Knyt (fifth, 18:33) and Emma Vasovic (sixth, 19:14).

Gateway 27, Granby 30; Granby 15, Hopkins 50 – Hopkins Academy’s Caprial DiBartolomeo picked up another win in 23:02, though no other Golden Hawks runner placed in the top 10 at Dufresne Park’s 3.1-mile course on Tuesday. Addy Hill led Granby (second, 23:49), followed by teammates Grace Cooney (fifth, 24:22), Quinlin Cook (sixth, 25:30) and Adelynn Zimmer (10th, 27:40). Gateway placed its five runners in the top 11 – Anya Niles (third, 24:06), Ava Christie (fourth, 24:06), Laurel DeMoss (eighth, 26:50), Autumn Clark (ninth, 27:36) and Lily Peloquin (11th, 28:02).

Boys cross country

PVCICS 19, Smith Voc 44; PVCICS 19, Pioneer 42; Pioneer 27, Smith Voc 29 – Grafton Tolopko picked up another win for the Dragons, leading the field at 14:02 at Smith Voc’s 2.5-mile course. Smith Voc’s Theo Wojcik picked up second-place at 14:26. In addition to Tolopko, PVCICS had six more runners in the top 10 – Owen Bowman (fourth, 14:37), RJ Allen (fifth, 15:20), Kristof Kayt (sixth, 15:32), Asa Taggert (seventh, 15:45), Adolphus Yap (ninth, 15:57) and Frank Sup (10th, 16:02). PVCICS remains undefeated at 13-0, including a 6-0 mark in the Pioneer North League.

Hampshire 28, Frontier 29; Hampshire 15, Easthampton 50; Hampshire 15, Monson 50; Monson 22, Easthampton 33; Frontier 15, Easthampton 47; Frontier 15, Monson 47 – Evan Hedlund and Luke Howard finished one-two for Frontier with identical 17:04 times, followed by three Hampshire runners – Oscar Schiff (third, 17:09), Jack Laliberte (fourth, 17:26) and Aidan Conklin (fifth, 17:29). Frontier’s Charlie Dennis (sixth, 17:30) and Oliver Brown (eighth, 17:43) secured top-10 finishes, but Hampshire’s Owen Cubi (seventh, 17:39) and Nick Jones (ninth, 18:02) secured the one-point win for the Raiders. Will Jourdain (15th, 18:36) was Easthampton’s lone finisher in the top 20.

Granby 24, Gateway 32; Granby 18, Mahar 37; Granby 20, Hopkins 35 – Granby’s Nate Hutchinson set a new course record by 29 seconds with a time of 18:13. Gateway’s Jacob Maynard took second (20:06), Granby’s Nathan Benson placed third (20:09), Granby’s Trevor Sullivan finished fourth (20:30), Hopkins’ Jack Cycz went fifth (21:00) and Granby’s Colby Carleton wrapped up sixth (21:12).

Boys soccer

Ludlow 2, Amherst 1 – Victor Nunes Saravia scored and goalie Ronald Hernandez Duran made nine saves.

Smith Academy 1, Granby 1 – Gavin Moreno put the Rams on top in the first half off an assist from Tristan Moe, but Cajun Benson equalized it in the second half, off an assist from Matthew Scagel. Granby goalie Brandon Chatel and Smith Academy goalie Jake Wilcox made three saves each.

PVCICS 5, Franklin Tech 0 – PVCICS scored all five of its goals in the final 20 minutes of the first half, with Teddy Scott scoring two and assisting two. Rafi Razmi, Patrick Canavan-Gosselin and Aidan Betournay tallied a goal apiece and Nolan Gage and James Scott recorded one assist each. Goalie Richard Ang made four saves for the Dragons.

Sci-Tech 1, Hopkins 0 – Logan Bye made a pair of saves for the Golden Hawks.

Mount Everett 4, Gateway 0 – Zack Hess made eight saves in goal for the Gators, who take the field next at home against Granby on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Girls soccer

Hopkins 7, Lee 0 – The Golden Hawks stretched their undefeated season to 7-0-1 thanks to a hat trick from Helen Vissas. Ephie Vissas, Cassie Dion, Alayna Bailey and Chloe Kosciusko also scored, while Layni Bailey, Olivia Earle, Sadie Cyr, Aurora Moynihan, Morgan Augustin and Dion registered assists. Goalie Emmalyn Schmidt made a pair of saves.

Frontier 6, Mahar 0 – Jazzy Hayes scored twice and Maddie Fagan, Skyler Steele, Faythe Sobieski and Maggie Nichols all tallied once to lead the Redhawks to a road win. Carly Robertson delivered a hat trick of assists and Steele and Josie Fosnot added one each. Aylen Shaw made five saves in goal.

Field hockey

Amherst 3, Holyoke 0 – Josephine Becker, Annie Haugsjaahbink and Sylvie Walker scored for the ‘Canes. Zoey Candito provided a pair of assists and Hattie Holabird added one of her own. Amherst goalie Eden Polak made four saves.

Smith Academy 1, Mohawk 0 – The hosts went up 1-0 with 1:55 left in the first quarter and held on for their sixth win of the season in 10 games. Sophia Jagodzinski scored the game’s lone goal off a feed from Shae Moulton. Goalie Madison Didonna-Renner made nine saves.

Southwick 2, Northampton 1 – All three goals in Tuesday afternoon’s affair were scored in the second half, with Camilla Brewer scoring Northampton’s only tally. Charlotte Johnson Mersack made 13 saves for Northampton in goal.

Girls volleyball

Smith Voc 3, Hampden Charter 1 – The Vikings came back after dropping the first set to improve their record to 8-2 with a 25-27, 25-12, 25-19, 25-15 win. Hecmarie Diaz-Lopez posted five aces, five assists, 10 digs and three kills, Abby Desrochers put up five aces, six digs and three kills and Roma Bentrewicz totaled three aces, one block and 18 assists.

South Hadley 3, Commerce 2 – The Tigers pulled off a thrilling victory Tuesday night, improving to 8-2 with a 25-10, 14-25, 21-25, 25-19, 17-15. South Hadley was down a set, and down 13-9 in the fifth set, but pulled it out behind 15 kills from Ella Schaeffer, 28 assists from Milana Stefaglo and 15 digs from Talia Quinn. Grace Matyszewski turned in an all-around performance with five aces, eight digs, two blocks and five kills.

Golf

Belchertown 166, Chicopee 215 – Jared Haynes and Daniel Hulmes each scored 39s to lead the way for the Orioles. Michael Murray was right behind them with a 41 and Ryan Shea and Brady Jolly rounded out the scoring with 47s.

Pioneer 180, Hopkins 193 – Ryley Regan shot one under par (35) at Holyoke Country Club on Tuesday to lead all golfers. Jack Dyjach (47), Jessica Waskiewicz (55) and Chace Earle (56) followed behind.

Franklin Tech 162, Smith Voc 181 – Pat Gougeon led the Vikings with a 42, followed by Pat Milin (46), RJ Kaczenski (46) and James Lavallee (47).

South Hadley 174, Ware 212 – Jameson Webber led the Tigers with a 41, and Mike Larochelle (43), Caiden Drohan (45) and Matt Blaser (45) also scored.

Frontier 168, Northampton 174 – The Redhawks edged the Blue Devils behind consistent performances from Brady Wood (40), Ryan Cetto (41), Porter Hall (43) and Cam Skiffington (44). Reilly Fowles led Northampton with a 39, followed by Lars Simon (44), Jack Carpenter (45) and Reed O’Connor (45).

Hampshire 156, Westfield Tech 169 – Bradyen Fennessy led Hampshire with a 37, followed by Ashton Lashway (38), Nico Johnson (40) and Riley Florek (41). The Raiders are now 14-2 and 7-1 in the Suburban West.

Girls soccer

Northampton 9, Chicopee 0 – Willow Claps scored a hat trick, Margaux Galvin and Olivia Busone added two goals each and Allie Sullivan also scored in another big win for the Blue Devils.

Hampshire 2, Pittsfield 1 – Shayne Moynihan scored twice in the second half, both off Libby Puttick assists, to lead the Raiders to victory.

Girls volleyball

Frontier 3, Westfield 0 – The Redhawks got their revenge for a 3-1 loss to the Bombers on Sept. 4, taking a commanding win 25-17, 25-8, 25-21 at home Monday night. Olivia Machon made six kills with only one error and Abigail Hernandez and Caitlin Maio turned in strong performances on the service line. Parrish Stilla dished out 19 assists and Hannah Davis recorded a dozen digs.
