HS Roundup: Reilly Fowles caps perfect regular season, Northampton boys tennis takes down East Longmeadow

It was a fitting end to the regular season for the Northampton boys tennis team, which recorded its 12th consecutive victory on Friday afternoon after defeating East Longmeadow 4-1 at the Smith College Courts.
Reilly Fowles completed his regular season with a perfect record as the Blue Devils’ first singles player, following a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win on Friday. Fowles will have a strong shot at the upcoming Western Massachusetts individual title.
Elsewhere, Durrell Patrick nabbed a 6-2, 6-3 victory at second singles, while the Blue Devils swept doubles play. Oliver Levine and Reed O’Connor took home a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 1 doubles and Eli Wool and Jude McCutcheon earned a hard-fought triumph at second doubles (6-3, 7-5).
Northampton is the No. 1 seed in Class A of the Western Mass. tournament and will look to take home its second sectional crown in three years.
PVCICS 4, Minnechaug 1 — Lee Ferguson and Derek Ye were lights out for the Dragons on the court on Friday.
Ferguson lost only one game in first singles, while Ye swept the competition, 6-0, 6-0 in second singles for PVCICS, which improved to 15-2 overall in its last match of the regular season.
Northampton 4, Central 1 — Friday’s victory sent the Blue Devils into the postseason as winners of four out of their last six matches.
Bess King-Pollet shined for Northampton in first singles, winning in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.

PVCICS 5, Greenfield 0 — Elisa Shinn (first singles, 6-4, 6-2), Sabine Loinaz (second singles, 6-0, 6-2) and Lien Powers-Moran (third singles, 6-2, 6-0) swept singles play for the Dragons on Friday.
Eloise Tuleja and Kendell Christensen notched a first doubles win (6-2, 6-0) while the second doubles tandem of Chelsea Chartier and Kaylin Lane earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory.
Pioneer 15, Easthampton 5 — The Eagles ended their regular season with a loss, despite a strong game from freshman Patrick Larson, who homered and drove in three runs.
Easthampton’s (6-12) four-game win streak was snapped with the defeat.
Palmer 9, Granby 5 — Jaedyn Pike and Brandon Carillon belted doubles for the Rams in its regular-season finale on Friday.
Brodie Funk, Joseph Barrett and Carillon all concluded with a pair of hits for Granby, which finished the year with a 3-13 record.
Northampton 13, Amherst 3 — The Blue Devils closed out the season in the win column at home on Friday. Northampton’s 13 runs set a season high, while the Hurricanes allowed 10 or more runs for the 10th consecutive contest.
South Hadley 11, Commerce 0 (5) — Matthew Butler and Josh Willette threw a combined no-hitter for the Tigers in the shutout victory. Butler started and struck out seven in three innings, then Willette went the last two innings and fanned five Commerce batters.
Logan Carpenter (1-for-2, double) and Ryan Netkovick (1-for-2, triple) earned extra-base hits for South Hadley, while Noah Carillon cracked two hits and scored two runs for the Tigers, who crept back above .500 on the year at 9-8.
South Hadley 7, Minnechaug 5 — Sienna LaFlesh (three hits, two RBIs), Samantha LaFlesh (two hits, two RBIs) and Ryley McMahon (two hits, two runs) all recorded multiple hits as the Tigers offense came alive late to win on Friday.
South Hadley’s Ella Schaeffer struck out 13 in a complete-game effort in the circle.
Hoosac Valley 24, Granby 13 — The Rams’ losing streak extended to four straight with Friday’s road defeat to a scorching Hoosac team.
Kalli White slotted seven goals for Granby and Kelly-Lynne Kennedy had five points (three goals, two assists) in Granby’s penultimate regular season contest.
Belchertown 13, Chicopee Comp 8 — Lia Pikul recorded seven points (five goals, two assists) and Veronica Dymbowski netted a hat trick to lead the Orioles to a win on Friday.
Kenzie LePage also had three goals in the Belchertown victory, while Maddy Philpott and Aubrey McCain rounded out the goal scoring.
Girls lacrosse
Northampton 14, West Springfield 13 — Despite being outscored 5-0 in the fourth quarter, the Blue Devils managed to squeak out win No. 11 on the season.
Teagan McDonald (four goals, assist) and Imanni Power-Greene (three goals, assist) were Northampton’s top two scorers while goalie Ainsley Dawson made nine saves.
