Darlene Graham and Tim Walter: Grateful to brave souls who restored power

At about 7 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, our electricity went out. We had no light and heat. In all, 327 homes in Plainfield were without power, along with 487 in Cummington.
The winds were up to 60 mph, and the temperatures hovered around 0 degrees. In the midst of all this, the town highway workers had to clear fallen trees and limbs off the roads before the Eversource trucks could even get to the downed wires and poles.
Tuesday night, in the cold and dark and freezing winds, the line workers were still at it when we got our electricity back on after 37 hours.
We cheer for and thank the brave people and hardy souls who worked in these terrible conditions to restore us to the comfort of our homes.
