I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Ward 3 City Councilor Quaverly Rothenberg for her unwavering accessibility and dedication to vulnerable residents like myself.

As a disabled person, I’ve experienced firsthand the dangers of our unsafe sidewalks, falling multiple times. For decades, the Montview neighborhood, led by advocates like Claudia Lefko, has fought for safer streets, only to be ignored by the city. We’ve watched elderly, disabled, and blind neighbors fall and seen sidewalks rendered impassable, especially in winter.

This should be the story, not the unjust criticism of a councilor who bravely speaks up for us. I’m especially grateful for Councilor Rothenberg’s efforts to address hazardous road conditions, ensuring dangerous streets were treated and closed before morning commutes, protecting countless lives. It’s appalling that she was censured for prioritizing safety while others have faced no consequences for negligence or offensive behavior.

Rothenberg has consistently shown up for Ward 3 meetings with low-income and disabled residents at Lumber Yard Apartments, listening empathetically, and taking action. Claudia Lefko has also worked tirelessly to advocate for safe sidewalks and green spaces for our children and vulnerable neighbors. Yet these efforts are often brushed aside.

My hope is that all Northampton residents have a representative as dedicated as Quaverly Rothenberg. Thank you, Councilor Rothenberg, for going above and beyond for Ward 3.
