Sarah Shevlin: Help fund lung cancer research

This year, more than 226,000 Americans will die from lung cancer — the No. 1 cancer killer. We need to stop this. When people think of lung cancer, they relate it to smoking. That is not accurate in many cases. Lung cancer does not discriminate. It happens to people who have never smoked in their life, who lived a healthy life, and it struck them hard. For what? It is beyond unfair and unexplainable.

Lung cancer is the least funded of the top five cancer killers, yet is the leading killer. I truly hope that whomever is reading this can seriously see how critical this is, and put yourself in the shoes of someone with lung cancer, or a loved one with lung cancer, battling it.

Help. I cannot say this enough. Help and fund the research. We are all humans, and deserve to find this cure. Make a difference and save lives!
