Sidney Moss: Jimmy Carter an inspiration

As President Carter enters his final days, I am inspired by his success in living a life of meaning that has made a difference. His life did indeed "count for something" as he had wished. It's remarkable that so much of what he was able to contribute occurred following the end of his presidency in 1981. After that he focused on a wide range of humanitarian efforts. One example was his decades of support for Habitat for Humanity. He also worked internationally for diplomacy and peace as well as human rights and protecting the environment. President Carter was deservedly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002. As someone who is just six months younger than President Carter's 98 years, I feel that he provides a wonderful example about how people even in their advanced years can make the world a better place.
