On Jan. 6, 2025, Vice President Kamala Harris will preside over the counting of the electoral votes for Donald Trump, just as four years earlier VP Mike Pence presided over the counting of the electoral votes for Joe Biden.

It would be fitting for Harris to use the occasion to pay tribute to Pence and the Capitol Police officers who risked their lives on that day protecting the peaceful transfer of power from being overthrown by a violent mob, and to remind everyone of the very good reason why most of the insurrection’s perpetrators were indicted, convicted and incarcerated.

With Trump declaring his intention to pardon those criminals when he takes office on Jan. 20, it’s the least she can do.
