Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a notorious promoter of conspiracy theories and misinformation, has been nominated to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. HHS is one of the most critical federal agencies, responsible for safeguarding public health and guiding the country through health crises. This role demands a leader grounded in science, who prioritizes evidence-based policies, and upholds public trust.
RFK Jr.’s track record shows he is none of these things. He has spent years spreading thoroughly debunked claims about vaccines, like the false assertion that they cause autism, fueling the anti-vaccine movement and contributing to public health crises. Kennedy is currently involved in vaccine-related lawsuits, a source of significant profit for him, which would constitute a major financial conflict of interest.
His rhetoric and actions during the COVID-19 pandemic, when he aligned with extremist groups opposing science-backed safety measures, further highlight his disregard for scientific evidence and public safety. If that weren’t bad enough, RFK Jr. has consistently attacked trusted public health institutions — the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration. These attacks erode public confidence in the very agencies we rely on to protect our health and manage crises.
His confirmation would completely undermine the foundations of public health, putting millions of American lives at risk. Demand your senators (Elizabeth Warren, 202-224-4543; Ed Markey, 202-224-2742) vote no on RFK Jr.’s nomination to lead HHS.
