The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) this week announced a five-year media rights agreement with FloSports, a global independent sports media company and streaming platform that will become the exclusive media partner of the NEWMAC starting in the 2024-25 academic year.

The NEWMAC is now the second NCAA Div. 3 conference with a media rights deal, and the league now has a national platform and resources to enhance itself as a top conference.

“As a conference, our mission is to be at the forefront of the evolving landscape of college athletics to create the best possible experience for our student-athletes,” said Patrick B. Summers, NEWMAC Executive Director, via the NEWMAC’s press release. “Our partnership with FloSports enables the NEWMAC to continue building on our success as a conference by providing our student-athletes and institutional brands with increased exposure and a national platform.”

In the agreement, FloSports is set to livestream over 1,100 regular and post season NEWMAC events across the 17 sports. Furthermore, each of the 12 member institutions – including local league member Smith College – will have the option to post the entire event on their websites completely free of charge 72 hours after it concludes.

“FloSports’ investment into the conference will enhance overall production quality and media operations of member schools throughout the term of the contract,” the press release stated. “FloSports will also leverage the nationally and internationally recognized brands of the NEWMAC member institutions by producing original content and social media programming throughout the conference over the five-year term.”

Ninety percent of the revenue from the agreement will be given to the NEWMAC member institutions.

Northampton 7/8 suburban defeats South Hadley

Behind 16 points from Keira Cole and a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double from Zora Nteta, the Blue Devils 7/8 girls suburban team defeated South Hadley 41-32 on Tuesday night.

Cole added seven boards, two blocks and two steals to go along with her game-high in points as part of an impressive all-around performance.

Abby Wu put up seven points, five rebounds and a steal while Quinn Spears chipped in four points, three rebounds, two blocks and two steals – doing a little bit of everything for Northampton.
