NORTHAMPTON — After more than 30 years of stylishly dressing Northampton area residents, J. Rich Clothing for Men will close at the end of July.

The store is one of three Northampton clothing businesses, including 2nd Time Around and Ci Ci Boutique, that have announced the closing of their brick-and-mortar stores in the past two months. Ci Ci Boutique maintains an online store.

In a letter published on the business’s website, owner Nancy Donato announced that she will retire.

“As a member of the downtown business community, I’ve had the opportunity to carry the J. RICH legacy into a new, exciting and challenging era,” Donato wrote.

J. Rich opened its doors in 1984, and Donato has owned it for the past 10 years. The store moved to its current location at 153 Main St. five years ago, Donato said in the letter.

She declined to comment for this story.

In her letter, Donato said that at the location, Mikala Hammonds will open “a home furnishing store of finely curated furniture accessories and art, with interior design services.”

On the lower level, the space will host an “infrared sauna sanctuary” with healthy lifestyle products, Donato added.
