Alpine skiing: Hampshire’s Edward Przybyla, Mohawk Trail’s Addie Loomis capture PVIAC Race No. 2

For the second consecutive race, the Mohawk Trail alpine ski team littered the top of the leaderboard on Tuesday during the second PVIAC race of the season at Berkshire East.
Addie Loomis took home first place on the girls side with a run of 29.47 seconds on the giant slalom course, her second first place finish of the season. Sofiya Slocik-Gritzner and Mae Hoff joined her in the top 10, Slocik-Gritzner placing ninth (32.47) and Hoff taking 10th (32.66).
Hampshire Regional’s Ella Cleary skied to an impressive third place overall finish in 31.35 seconds, while PVCICS’ Sarah Fardal notched a top five showing, taking fifth in 31.84.
Vivi Bernier paced Amherst with a 16th-place performance in 34.36.
On the boys side, Hampshire Regional’s Edward Przybyla breezed to a first-place time on the slalom course in 39.70 seconds.
Mohawk Trail’s Weston den Ouden placed second on Tuesday with a run of 41.14, while teammate Wyatt Sisum placed fifth (45.38).
Amherst’s Beckett Baird was third overall in 41.57 seconds, followed by Hampshire’s Dawson Kelly in fourth (45.23).
Northampton’s Keller Mahoney (ninth, 48.74) and Charlie Ames (10th, 48.84) both cracked the top 10 for the Blue Devils.

Amherst, Mohawk Trail compete
The Amherst and Mohawk Trail Nordic ski teams competed in their second race of the season Tuesday night at Butternut in Great Barrington.
On the boys’ side, Mount Greylock’s Oliver Swabey was the overall winner with a time of 10 minutes, 18 seconds.
Mohawk Trail’s Vincent Gauthier took 11th overall in 11:55, while teammate Augustus Niswonger, who attends Hampshire Regional, was 17th (12:22). Hampshire’s Oscar Schiff nabbed 23rd place (13:03) and Adam Muller finished 28th (13:25).
Amherst’s Max Rogowski crossed in 24th place (13:38), with teammates Ian Burns (25th), Peter Nedeau (28th) and Alex Sawicki (29th) close behind.
Greylock’s Anne Miller won the girls’ race with a time of 12:33. Amherst’s Elizabeth Sawicki was the top local finisher, finishing 12th overall (15:24), while Hampshire’s Charlotte Niswonger, skiing in the Mohawk Trail-Hampshire co-op, tied for 14th (15:32).
Amherst’s Isla Cusick was 23rd (17:30) and teammates Aria Haupt (24th, 17:33) and Myla Peltier (26th, 19:10) weren’t far behind. Mohawk Trail’s Anya Read (20th) and Corinne Somes (25th) also competed in the event.
