SOUTH HADLEY — Incumbents captured most of the votes in Tuesday’s annual town elections, which featured few contested races and drew only 1,552, or 5.79%, of registered voters to the polls.

The incumbents who won Tuesday include Renee Sweeney, who will serve her second, three-year term on the Select Board; Eric Friesner, elected for another three-year term on the School Committee, of which he is chair; and Jackson Matos, who will serve another one-year-term on the School Committee.

The only contests were in Fire District 1, where candidates squared off for seats on the Prudential Committee and Board of Water Commissioners.

Newcomer Steven Blaney beat out incumbent Bruce Perron for the Prudential Committee seat, while Charles Scott beat Michael Wozniak for the three-year water commissioner term vacated by Eden DuPerier.

Additionally, William Schenker recaptured his seat on the Board of Water Commissions for another year.

John Hine will continue to run annual district meetings as the district moderator.

In other races, Scott also will serve on the Board of Health for three years alongside incumbent Stephen Frantz; Thomas Reidy will continue his work on the Board of Assessors for another three years; and Municipal Light Board members Paul Dobosh and Thomas Terry will fulfill an additional three years and two years, respectively.

Robert Szklarz will take Joanna Brown’s seat on the Planning Board, while the Board of Library Trustees will include new members Jennifer Couturier and Kelly Ryan Woods joining incumbent Gail Gretchen Scanlon.
