Smith retains Worthington Select Board seat

WORTHINGTON — Incumbent Stephen Smith overcame two challengers to retain his seat on the Select Board in local voting Saturday.

In voter turnout of 26%, Smith received 106 votes, Ron Sampson garnered 87, and Ned Ferguson took 60.

Write-in Ryan Neuhauser won election to the School Committee, and write-in Nestor Mathews took the five-year seat on the Planning Board. A third write-in, Gretchen Eliason, was elected to the Finance Committee along with incumbent Joseph Boudreau.

Kate Bavelock was elected to a three-year seat on the Planning Board and Anna Maunz took the one-year seat.

Others winning election were Gary Ouimet, assessor; Diane Brenner, Board of Health; Mary Orisich, cemetery commissioner; Ron Sampson, constable; Kevin O’Connor, moderator; and Ben Brown, tree warden.
