Trevor Chalmers, who is the property manager at Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary in Easthampton, works on a new timber-frame teaching pavilion, last Thursday at the sanctuary. The 30-by-50 foot pavilion will be used primarily for teaching Forest Preschool students but also will be available for functions, including the annual Festival of Birds. It is expected to be completed by mid-September.

Jack Czajkowski of Hadley cuts tobacco, Friday, July 31, 2020 at Plainville Farm in Hadley. He said he has been helping harvest tobacco on the family's farm since he was a boy. His brother, Wally, now owns the farm. Jack said it's a good crop of the Connecticut Valley broadleaf this year, which is used for making cigars. He works as a teacher at Greenfield Commonwealth Virtual School. They have been harvesting for more than a week and will continue for about another two weeks, depending on weather.
