Archaeologist Randy Daum to speak at Hatfield Historical Society meeting

 HATFIELD — The Hatfield Historical Society has announced that Randy Daum will be the program speaker for this month’s meeting.

Daum, an archaeologist and a doctoral candidate at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, will present a slide show of his recent North Hatfield “Old Farms” discoveries.

According to the Hatfield Historical Society, “the discovery of ‘Old Farms’ represents the example archaeologists have long been seeking … the only archaeological site of its kind in southern New England.”

The meeting is open to the public in the Hatfield Congregational Church parlors  at 41 Main St.  at 6:30 p.m. March 17.  

The society’s monthly business meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. followed by Daum’s program from 7 to 8 p.m. Refreshments will be available after the meeting.
