AMHERST – All 19 candidates interested in serving on a charter commission, should it be formed by voters at the March 29 town election, are invited to a forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters on Monday.
The forum will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. in the middle school auditorium.
Michael Ward, director of municipal services for public management at the University of Massachusetts at Boston, will begin the evening with a presentation on charter commissions and options it could explore for town government. The program will also be taped by Amherst Media and rebroadcast.
A second forum, from 7 to 9 p.m. March 22 in the Town Room at Town Hall, will be for all candidates for Select Board, School Committee and other townwide offices.
Besides the forums being broadcast by Amherst Media, the league is again putting together the election guide, which will be printed in the Amherst Bulletin this month, and cosponsored Amherst Media’s taping of candidate statements which can be viewed on YouTube.
