SOUTH HADLEY – The man who died in a single- vehicle rollover accident on Granby Road (Route 202) Wednesday morning has been identified by the Northwestern district attorney’s office as Meddric E. Lafleur, 83, of South Hadley.
Lafleur was traveling north when he lost control of his Honda Pilot and crossed the double yellow lines near Helm Street in front of the Second Baptist Church at 589 Granby Road about 9:25 a.m.
He was taken to Holyoke Medical Center where he died of his injuries, according to South Hadley Police Lt. Steve Parentela.
No one else was in the vehicle.
This is the second fatal accident at nearly the same spot in the past two months. Pedestrian James “Jimmy” Collins, 68, was struck and killed by a vehicle while he was crossing the street near 605 Granby Road about 5:30 p.m. Jan. 4.
