Maple Syrup

It’s a short, sweet season — here now, but not for long! Now’s the time for a visit to a sugar shack or a maple-themed meal.

For a quick maple treat, heat 1½ cups of syrup with six tablespoons of butter and a little salt (exact amounts are not important). If you heat it to 230 degrees, then pour it over a generous 8 to 12 cups of popped corn, it will be sticky and delicious. Heat it even further, as high as 300 degrees, and the syrup will harden as you pour it, making it crunchy and still delicious. Nuts are a good addition.
