Strength at the top carried through for the Amherst College women’s tennis team Wednesday.

Sue Ghosh won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and Vickie Ip won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles in a 9-0 win over Hardin-Simmons in Claremont, Florida.

Amherst (1-1) swept the rest of the singles matches and all three doubles points.

Baseball

Harvard 9, UMass 5 — Mike Hart went 2 for 4 and batted in two runs, but the Minutemen (1-7) lost their second straight game in Clearwater, Florida.

Softball

Amherst 5, Agnes Scott 2; Amherst 5, Fairleigh Dickinson 1 — A strong offensive day helped Amherst improve to 7-1 with two wins in Clermont, Florida.

Babson College 8, Smith 2; Smith 3, Babson College 1 — Allison Snyder had three hits and drove in a run, as the Pioneers (4-4) split a doubleheader in Clermont, Florida.
