EASTHAMPTON – Interim Easthampton High School principal Kevin Burke has been permanently hired to head the school.
Superintendent Nancy Follansbee announced Burke’s appointment last week. She said in making her decision, she consulted school staff, students and parents.
“The feedback I received was overwhelmingly in support of Mr. Burke’s appointment to the position,” Follansbee wrote in an email. “Mr. Burke has shown he is a leader who can continue to grow the reputation of our high school for excellence.”
Burke, of Southampton, was named interim principal last fall after the departure of former principal Vito Perron. Burke had been assistant principal at the high school for 2½ years, and previously worked as a math teacher at White Brook Middle School in Easthampton and Van Sickle Middle School in Springfield.
