NORTHAMPTON – Northampton Police have identified the two men  arrested  on drug charges Thursday morning when authorities raided an apartment on New South Street.

Northampton Police Capt. John Cartledge said city and state police raided 24 New South St., Apt. C, around 11:30 a.m., and arrested Norman H. Straughn, who lives in the apartment and Johnny Rosario, of Springfield.

The two men were charged with possession of crack cocaine. During the search of the apartment, authorities uncovered “several” crack rocks and about $1,700 in cash, Cartledge said.

The exact amount of drugs and cash found was not immediately known.

The raid was the result of an investigation spanning “several weeks” involving Northampton and state police and the Northwestern District Attorney’s Anti-Crime Task Force, Cartledge said.
