Around 100 people gathered at the Neilson Library at Smith College on Sunday afternoon to hear local writers Meryl Cohn and Robin Barber read their work.

Barber read his short story “The Cats that Went Wild,” a coming of age tale about a character dealing with the loss of household cats at the end of a vacation in Friendship, Maine.

The monthly readings are part of “A Gallery of Readers,” a weekly writing workshop led by Barber and Carol Edelstein. The program was founded 25 years ago and is designed to promote writing in the Valley.
