GREENFIELD — The statewide group called Landowners Coalition on NED will hold an informational and support session Thursday to help any landowner whose land may be impacted by the Northeast Energy Direct project proposed by the Tennessee Gas Pipeline.

That includes land that the energy company is eyeing to directly cross or use for rights of way, compressor stations, meter or valve stations, access roads, pipe and contractor yards, and temporary work-space.

The meeting is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at 170 Main St., next to World Eye Bookstore, in the meeting space owned by Green Fields Market.

This meeting will focus on assisting landowners who have denied Tennessee Gas Pipeline access to properties that are on the list the company submitted to the state Department of Public Utilities with its petition requesting that it be granted permission to survey on those lands.

The hearing on that petition will be held at Greenfield Middle School at 7 p.m. March 30.

The pipeline is proposed to carry natural gas from New York State through Plainfield in Hampshire County and eight Franklin County towns on its way to Dracut, and some critics say north to Canada for export.
