One walkoff loss stings.

Two in extra innings is just cruel.

The Smith College softball team lost 5-4 in eight innings and 4-3 in nine innings during a road doubleheader against Western New England on Thursday in Springfield.

The Pioneers (4-8) led by one run in the top half of both deciding innings before the Golden Bears rallied for two in the bottom halves of the extra frames.

Brittney Blokker collected three hits and drove in two runs on the day.

Tori Brown was credited with both Smith losses after relieving the starters in both games.
