EASTHAMPTON – Knives, cigarettes, a rifle scope and prescription medications were among the three dozen items allegedly found on a city teenager who was arrested after a series of thefts from vehicles early Friday morning, according to police.
The 15-year-old Easthampton boy was arrested on Lovell Street at 4:03 a.m. Friday on charges of felony nighttime motor vehicle breaking and entering, larceny over $250 and possession of a Class E drug after a resident called police to report seeing two suspicious males walking around the neighborhood.
The youth was found to be in possession of 36 items in his backpack, which police allege were taken from “several dozen” vehicles in the area of Everett, Lovell, Franklin and Broderick streets that morning, according to Easthampton Police Officer Chad Alexander.
The other boy, a 16-year-old Easthampton resident, was later summoned to court on a charge of nighttime motor vehicle breaking and entering.
The 16-year-old allegedly acted as the lookout as the crimes were committed, Alexander said.
Neither boy is named because they are juveniles.
Among the items found in the 15-year-old’s backpack were prednisone, amphetamine, hydrocodone, several knives, jewelry, Beats headphones, a stethoscope, matches, socks, underwear, sunglasses and an iPhone.
