AMHERST – Finalists for the town manager position could be named publicly when the Select Board meets April 11.
Interim Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner said Tuesday that a screening committee reviewing candidates for the permanent town manager’s job, brought forward by consultant Bernard Lynch of Community Paradigm Associates LLC of Plymouth, held its final meeting Monday.
“They’ve done the preliminary interviews, ranked the candidates and the consultant is doing his background checks,” Hechenbleikner said.
Depending on how many finalists the screening committee recommends, interviews with the Select Board could begin as early as April 21 and conclude April 29.
The board has set aside a schedule to accommodate between three and five finalists.
Hechenbleikner, who is not a candidate for the permanent position, said the process has gone smoothly and that there was a talented pool of candidates.
The Select Board could hire its next town manager May 5.
