NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION –  Wednesdays, noon to 1:30 p.m. starting April 13. Taught by Professor Douglas Raybeck, this course is a study of the subtle social structuring underlying social interaction, much of which is nonverbal. Students are exposed to the biological and psychological bases and the cross-cultural variations that exist.  Free, must pre-register. 

SONGBIRDS – Naturalist John Root will explain how to attract songbirds to your property, and share photographs and recordings  April 29, at 1 p.m. Learn how to recognize songbirds by their songs and calls and discover intriguing facts about their behavior. 

TAX PREPARATION — AARP tax-aide volunteers will be providing free tax return preparation Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through April 14. Call to schedule an appointment.

BRIDGE —Wednesdays, noon to 4 p.m.

BLOOD PRESSURE CLINICS —Tuesdays, 9 to 10 a.m. in the Garrabrants room. Free. Appointments not needed.

EASTER BONNET CONTEST– As a child, did you wear a new chapeau for the spring holiday?

Please bring a photo of yourself wearing your bonnet in an envelope to the Enrichment Center with your name written on it. We will display the photos through April and draw one name to win a gourmet candy basket on May 1.

If you don’t have a photo of yourself, make your own bonnet. We will take your photo here and post it along with the others for a chance to win.

SENIORS BRUNCH–Join the Helping Hand Society for its annual catered breakfast April 10 from 9:30 to 11 a.m, including juice, fruit cup, scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries and homemade pastries. Reservations not necessary. For transportation, please call the Enrichment Center at 527-6151 no later than 4 p.m.

BRAIN HEALTH WORKSHOP – April 14, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A presentation on how nutrition, exercise and other brain- healthy habits can reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s, MCI, and other neurodegenerative diseases. A brain healthy luncheon will be provided. Limited to 50 participants. Easthampton 60+ has a priority. Suggested $10 donation for Easthampton 60+. Cost for out-of-town residents and under 60 is $25, payable in advance. Call for further information.

TAX ASSISTANCE —AARP tax-aide volunteers will be providing free income tax return preparation Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. until April 15, by appointment only.

TRANQUILITY ROOM —Fridays by appointment. Includes bio-mat heat therapy, mindful books on our E-reader, head phones and music. Come relax and soak in the quiet. Call to pre-register.

ARTISTs OF THE MONTH

Reception Monday, 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. for a local trio of photographers — Elaine Findley, Debby Slavitt and Shoshana Zonderman — the “Pix Chix.” They met in Jim Spencer’s digital photo class at the center and formed their group two years ago. Each has shown work in shows around New England, winning awards most recently at the Belchertown Fair. Travel locations include Italy, England, France, Ireland, Costa Rica, Peru, New Zealand, Guadeloupe, and New York City.

​KARATE — A way to train yourself mentally, physically and emotionally. Classes in conjunction with Northampton Karate. Instructor Fred Contrada has taught karate for many years. Session held Tuesdays  through April 26 at 2 p.m. The cost is $30 for Northampton senior residents and $35 for non-resident seniors and those ages 55-59. Pre-registration is requested.

COOKING WITH CARE ONE —  Monday, 1 p.m. The menu for this session is Chicken Francais. Free to seniors age 55 and older.

AUTHOR OF THE MONTH – Tuesday, 1 p.m.  A reading and discussion from “Love in the Time of Climate Change.”

TEA TIME —Tuesdays at 2:45 p.m. Relax, share in good conversation and enjoy a hot cup of tea or coffee. Free to seniors with a scan card.
