AMHERST — Six candidates running for the 3rd Hampshire District state representative seat will debate Wednesday at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

The debate, hosted by the Massachusetts Public Interst Research Group, starts at 6 p.m. in Thompson Hall Room 102.

Candidates competing for the seat now held by Ellen Story, are Eric T. Nakajima, of 586 West St.; Viraphanh Douangmany, 41, of 12 Longmeadow Drive, Unit 21; Solomon Goldstein-Rose, 22, of 16 Poet’s Corner; Sarah la Cour, 52, of 124 North Whitney St.; Bonnie MacCracken, 60, of 8 Chadwick Court; and Lawrence O’Brien, 52, of 22 Harris St.

The debate will be moderated by Dean E. Robinson, an associate professor of political science at UMass. Part of the debate will be dedicated to audience questions.

The House district is made up of Amherst, Pelham and Precinct 1 of Granby.
