Over the last two years, the voters of South Hadley have decided that they have had enough of the “old ways” and elected new people to represent them on the Board of Commissioners of the South Hadley Electric Light Department. These decisions have proven to be the right ones for our town.
SHELD has now made positive and significant improvements which provide ratepayers much-needed transparency and a voice in board meetings, as well as the opportunity to actually have a conversation with board members.
On April 12, we have another opportunity to choose two more board members to the newly expanded 5-member board. Vern Blodgett is running for the three-year term, and Greg Dubreuil for the two-year term. Both are highly qualified and strongly committed to South Hadley. Blodgett earned his M.B.A. From Boston College, is a former bank treasurer and CFO, experienced in corporate communications, and is a U.S. Army veteran. Dubreuil is certified public accountant experienced in construction, financing, and property and facilities management. He is an adjunct faculty member at Holyoke Community College.
We need their kind of leadership, accountability and strategic experience to maintain and continue the progress that has been made by the new board.
