HADLEY – Yvonne Freccero, the Daily Hampshire Gazette “Person of the Year,” was honored during a reception Monday at Hadley Farms Meeting House.
Larry Parnass, the editor of the Gazette, spoke about her accomplishments and Northampton Mayor David Narkewicz presented a proclamation to her.
Freccero, 86, of Florence, has spent the last 20 years working to create shelters for the homeless in Hampshire County. She founded and served as the president of the Friends of Hampshire County Homeless Individuals, which started the Interfaith Cot Shelter and Yvonne’s House. In 2011, the organization bought another house to help people recover from substance abuse, which is now managed by Gandara Center.
