The Audubon Society has reported a variety of recent bird sightings in western Massachusetts.

A pair of sandhill cranes, which have nested in the town for several years, have returned to Worthington.

A Barrow’s goldeneye and a great egret were found in Williamstown.

A long-tailed duck was seen in North Adams.

The two red-headed woodpeckers continue to be reported in Longmeadow.

A flock of 40 Wilson’s Snipe were seen in Hadley

Migrants reported included: green-winged teal, ring-necked duck, bufflehead, great blue heron, common loon, double-crested cormorant, black vulture, northern harrier and red-shouldered hawk.

Also seen were killdeer, yellow-bellied sapsucker, merlin, fish crow, rough-winged swallow, ruby-crowned kinglet, red-breasted nuthatch, winter wren, horned lark, pine warbler, palm warbler, fox sparrow, chipping sparrow, rusty blackbird, eastern meadowlark and pine siskin.
