NORTHAMPTON — An employee with USA Insulation was injured Thursday by a falling wall while working on the new Northampton Community Arts Trust building at 33 Hawley Street.

“He’s ok,” Toby Brown, superintendent with D.A. Sullivan & Sons, Inc., the site’s general contractor, said at the job site.

Brown said the injured man was there installing insulation but offered to lend a hand with the installation of a wall, when the six workers installing the panel lost control and it fell toward the USA Insulation employee. The wooden wall “pinched” his head against a steel column behind him, Brown said.

Brown said the injured employee shook it off, but started feeling “woozy” and nauseous about 30 minutes later.

Northampton Deputy Fire Chief John Garriepy said emergency response arrived on scene at 2:10 p.m. and the employee was transported by ambulance to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

“He’ll be back to work Monday,” Brown said.
