Registered Democrats across the state will select delegates to the Democratic National Convention in July during caucuses Saturday.
The caucuses are open only to registered Democrats who enrolled by Feb. 10, according to Massachusetts Democratic Party spokesman Pat Beaudry. Unenrolled voters are not eligible to participate. All events start at 1 p.m.
Republicans will hold similar events April 30.
Supporters of Democratic candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders will hold their own events in the nine congressional districts across the state. The 1st and 2nd congressional districts cover western Massachusetts.
In the 1st Congressional District, represented by Democrat Richard Neal of Springfield, the Clinton event will be held at the Van Sickle Middle School auditorium in Springfield and the Sanders event will be held at White Brook Middle School in Easthampton.
In the 2nd Congressional District, represented by Democrat James McGovern of Worcester, the Clinton event will be held in the Auburn High School auditorium and the Sanders event will be held at Greenfield Middle School.
Three delegates will be selected at each event in the 1st and 2nd congressional districts, with one alternate selected at each of the Sanders events.

Delegates are allocated among congressional districts according to the party’s selection plan. For Clinton, 30 delegates will be selected total, with three alternates, and 29 total Sanders delegates will be selected, with five alternates.
Delegates are split evenly by gender, according to Beaudry.
The district-selected delegates make up about half of the state’s total number of delegates.
Twenty at-large delegates, split evenly between Sanders and Clinton, will be selected at a State Democratic Committee caucus May 7 by all state voters. Pledged party leader delegates, of which there are 12 split evenly between Clinton and Sanders, will be selected May 7 by the state Democratic Committee.
In addition, Massachusetts has 25 “superdelegates,” made up of party leaders and elected officials, who may vote at the July convention as they wish.
