The 5-0 lead the Williston Northampton baseball team built through the first six innings Saturday against Gunnery appeared to be enough to get Jared Freilich a win.
He struck out 10 batters in five innings before being relieved in the sixth.
Then Gunnery scored five runs in the top of the seventh to tie the Wildcats.
Enter JT Chamberlain, who hit a walkoff single up the middle to score Zach Bernstein and give Williston a 6-5 win.
Chamberlain had three hits on the day, while Chris Espinal went 2-for-3 with two runs batten in.
Florenceโs Ian Ostberg had a single in the first inning and scored a run for Williston (1-0).
Westminster 2, Williston 1 – The Wildcats opened the season with a road loss Saturday.
Gunnery 7, Williston 4 – South Hadleyโs Brian Sullivan scored two goals in a home loss Saturday.
Nick Garofano added a goal and an assist, while Joey Ford also scored.
Sam Miles made eight saves in the Williston (0-2) net.
Williston 11, St. Markโs 10, OT – Caroline Wysocki scored the overtime winner on the road Saturday.
Meg Szawlowski had three goals and three assists for the Wildcats (3-0).
Gunnery 6, Williston 1 – Zack Robbins won in three sets for the Wildcatsโ (0-1) only victory in the match Saturday on the road.
Williston 8, Miss Porterโs 1 – The Wildcats improved to 2-0 with a home victory.
Junya Ozaki led Williston with a 38 in a nine-hole tri match Saturday at Hop Meadow Country Club in Simsbury, Connecticut.
Westminster, the host, won the match with a team score of 195, while Suffield shot a 212 and Williston a 214.
Phillips Exeter 15, Williston 6; Andover 16, Willston 7 – Abbie Cosica totalled 11 goals in two losses Saturday.
She scored five against Phillips Exeter and six against Andover.
Lizzy Cuevas made seven saves against Andover, while Dylan Fulcher Melendy stopped four shots for the Willdcats (0-3).
Cuevas also picked up five steals against Andover, while Neha Nascimento added two assists.
