Baby massage

Beginning Thursday, the Hilltown Community Health Centers in Huntington will host Parent Child Massage, an eight-week support and education group for parents with children up to 2 years old.

The sessions will run from 10 to 11:30 a.m each Thursday at the center at 9 Russell Road.

Subjects will include infant massage strokes, soothing techniques, sleep strategies and coping skills.

The center also offers a program for parents with toddlers and pre-school-age children on Fridays during the same eight-week period. Both are free.

Participants will receive transportation assistance if necessary and child development literature.

Baystate offers cardiac risk screenings

Baystate Franklin Medical Center will hold a cardiac risk cholesterol screening Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in Conference Room A of the center, 164 High St. Greenfield.

Participants must fast for 12 hours prior to the test. Results will be forwarded to participants and their primary care providers. The cost is $10.

Estate planning talk set

Amherst attorney Deborah Jankowski will speak about estate planning, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney and health care proxies at the Hospice of the Fisher Home in Amherst Sunday.

The talk, part of a monthly series of conversations at the hospice at 1165 North Pleasant St., takes place from 2:30 to 4 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public.

Jankowski is a partner at Jankowski and Spencer. She specializes in estate planning, estate administration and probate law.

Formerly obese trainer
to discuss weight loss

Kelly Coffey, a certified personal trainer, will talk about weight loss and body image at Forbes Library in Northampton April 19 at 1:30 p.m.

Coffey, who says she was obese for most of her life, will share her weight-loss story and discuss womenโ€™s body image and nutrition.

The talk, called โ€œMyth of Thin,โ€ is free and open to the public.

Coffey has written a blog “5 Things I Miss About Weighing More Than 300 Pounds” that she says went viral in 2014.

Grieving a childโ€™s death

The Garden: A Center for Grieving Children and Teens, will host a free workshop on parental grief May 14, from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at 168 Industrial Drive in Northampton.

The workshop will include a showing of the video โ€œHelping Parents Grieve: Finding New Life After the Death of a Child,โ€ which features real stories about families who have lost children.

The session is open to parents and caregivers who have experienced the death of a child.

The Garden: A Center for Grieving Children and Teens is a program of the Cooley Dickinson VNA & Hospice.
