Brett Morrison struck out 12 in the Hopkins Academy baseball team’s 6-1 win over Pioneer Regional to open the season Monday.

Sophomore Mike Curran had two singles and three RBIs in his first varsity contest for the Golden Hawks.

Granby 7, Sabis 6 — Michael Sosa hit an RBI double in the fourth inning to give the Rams a 6-5 lead at home.

The bullpen closed out Sabis to give Granby the win.

Matt Bleakley pitched the seventh to pick up the save for Granby (2-0).

Sci-Tech 11, Smith Voke 10 — The Pioneers lost a late lead, giving up two runs in the bottom of the seventh in a road loss.

Manny Madera-Therrien had two hits and two RBIs for Smith Voke (1-1).
