It took until the sixth inning but the Amherst Regional baseball team got all it needed in a 1-0 win over Holyoke, Wednesday in Amherst.

Jake Balderston battled back from an 0-2 count and smacked a single to left.

John Bella-Hunter followed with a single to center.

Rohan Mody then pinch ran for Balderston and scored from second on a throwing error by the third baseman.

Bella-Hunter gave the ‘Canes six strong innings and Will Budington closed out the game in the seventh to pick up the save.

Granby 8, Smith Vocational 1 — The Rams scored seven runs in the second to pull away from the Vikings.

Dom Rosazza had a two-run single while Noah Bleakley added a two-run double in the inning.

Joe Laporte struck out six and gave up one earned run for the win.

For Smith Voke, Matt Hewes had three hits and Ryan York knocked in a run.

Hampshire Regional 10, Palmer 2 — Brandon Weyant struck out eight in the complete-game win.

Weyant and Max Weir each had three hits, while Matt York had two.

South Hadley 5, Mohawk 1 — Alex Dragon pitched five innings and struck out 10 in a home win for the Tigers.

Adam Pilachowski led South Hadley with two hits and two RBIs.

Brattleboro Union 8, Belchertown 4 — The Orioles lost at home in their season opener.

Ben Magarian had two goals for Belchertown (0-1).

Ray Langevin and Grant Irving added a goal each. Ryan McCarthy made 11 saves for Belchertown.
